WAY TO REP THE A LADIES: Arp H.S. sophomores Anna Schminkey & Jaycee Jones put forth an outstanding effort Tuesday at the UIL Class 3A Region 2 Girls Cross Country Championship in Fort Worth.
Schminkey finished nine spots away from qualifying for state, placing 29th overall out of 175 runners. She clocked a 13:40 for the two-mile race.
Jones wound up 97th overall with a time of 15:39.
Let's congratulate these young ladies on their fantastic 2026 campaign with big thanks to head coach Joel Avance.

WHAT AN IMPACT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL!
Arp High School junior RB/OLB Johnny Wright made his presence felt Friday in our Tigers🐅🏈 68-0 shutout over Winona. He was the team’s leading tackler with eight total stops, plus a pair of QB pressures & a QB knockdown. Then when he had the opportunity to step in offensively, he made the most of it. He scored twice, and had several long, electric runs. Wright wound up with 198 yards on 22 carries and was the Tigers leading rusher.

Fellow sophomore Jaycee Jones will accompany Schminkey at the regional meet as she medaled with a ninth place overall finish, also reaching a personal record with a time of 14:07.
Four of our five Lady Tigers that competed at the district meet set personal bests and nearly qualified to the regional as a team, missing the mark by just five points.
Anna and Jaycee will compete at the UIL Class 3A Region 2 meet at Rolling Hills Soccer Complex in Fort Worth on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at noon.

Hunt rushed for 241 yards on 33 carries including a 69-yard TD scamper against West Rusk Friday. He averaged 7.3 yards a carry.
