Whoever has walked into Arp Junior High School for nearly the last four decades has been greeted with the same warm smile and candor.

That attentive humble glow belongs to the campus' secretary and registrar, Mrs. Mary Ruth Shuttlesworth.

Arp ISD is proud to announce that Mrs. Shuttlesworth is the recipient of the district's "KTBB Radio" October 2022 employee of the month award.

It was presented to her by Arp Junior High School principal Jason Shieldes, and Arp ISD superintendent Shannon Arrington.

Now in her 38th year of employment at Arp ISD, all of which has been at our Junior High, Shuttlesworth said one of the reasons that keeps her coming back is getting to see her grandchildren every day, and just the simple joy of working.

Arp ISD's superintendent, "Mr. Rosie" Roseburg, back in the mid-1980's offered Shuttlesworth a position as an aid at Arp Junior High approximately one year after her husband passed away.

She's been a mainstay with the district since.

Shuttlesworth had once received an Arp Junior High School's employee of the month award, but this is her first district wide honor in her career.
