The Arp High School Accounting Team continued their impressive run this spring.

With a golden performance at the UIL academic 3A regional competition at Tyler Junior College Saturday, the Tiger squad outshined all of its opposition to capture the regional championship.

Their first place finish qualifies them for the UIL Academic State Meet Saturday May 7 at 8:30 a.m. at the University of Texas campus in Austin.

Behind the coaching of Arp High School business and CTE teacher Mrs. Ruth Forester, the squad nabbed the silver and bronze individual medals and had all four of its members finish in the top ten.

Junior Kyleigh Pawlik (2nd from left in picture) placed second, junior Kayleigh Shuttlesworth (2nd from right in picture) was third, junior Jacob McMorris (far right in picture) wound up sixth, and senior Isaac Penney (center with trophy in picture) brought home seventh.

In the spelling competition, sophomore Maddie Poole also had a strong showing with an eighth place finish.  She was coached by Arp High School English teacher Mrs. Kitty Marshall.

Also competing in Saturday's regional competition after qualifying from the district contest last month were Jared Swinney in science and Dalton Prather in literary criticism.

Swinney was coached by Arp High School science teacher/coach Mr. Chris Johnson, while Prather's coach was Arp High School English teacher Mrs. Hayley McClendon.

Congratulations to all our outstanding participants and their coaches for representing Arp ISD in a first class way.
