A strong leader in multiple sports, junior guard Kyia Horton proved to be a floor general for the Arp Lady Tiger varsity basketball team in the 2021-22 season.

Her efforts were recognized as she was named first team All-District 16-3A.

At only 5'2" tall, Horton led Arp in rebounding with nearly ten (9.7 rpg.) boards a contest.

"Hustle and heart," is how Lady Tigers head coach David Aguilar described Horton who also averaged 1.4 steals per game.

Horton was the team's second leading scorer as well at 7.4 points per outing.

Junior guards Abigail Nichols and Cyla Nelson-Rose earned second team honors.

Nelson Rose was the Lady Tigers' top scorer pouring in 8.3 points per contest to go along with 5.9 rebounds a game.

Nichols led Arp in steals at 1.6 each time out.  According to Aguilar, her anticipation defensively helped cause many turnovers.  She topped the Lady Tigers in assists as well with 2.2 dimes a contest.

Nichols added 5.7 points, and 3.2 rebounds per game.

Two more Arp ladies received All-District honorable mention.  They are freshman guard Maddie Birdsong, and junior forward  Kyleigh Pawlik.

Arp wound up being one of the biggest winners in the classroom among the schools in their league.

The Lady Tigers had one of largest contingencies of academic honorees in District 16-3A.

Five players were named academic All-District including Nichols, Pawlik, and Birdsong, to go along with sophomore guard Allee McCollum, and sophomore forward Kaitlyn Williams.
