Beginning late last week, eight of our FFA students gave Arp, America a little more to be proud of.

Under the guidance of Ag science teacher Shalie Williams, they competed in the prestigious Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.

"It’s been a  long five days with these students but it was a wonderful, cold, hilarious trip," Williams explained.  "They brought home some colorful ribbons and a lot of memories."

No strangers to accolades, the Bryand sisters, Heidi and Haley earned third place ribbons in their respective divisions at the Junior Beef Heifer (Simbrah) Show Monday.

Arp Junior High 7th grader Heidi received the nod in the Spring Heifer Calf division.

Meanwhile Haley, an Arp High School junior who has already garnered numerous FFA honors this school year, picked up the prize in the Early Senior Heifer Calf category.

Watch the video in the YouTube Player above to see them in action in their showing at W.R. Watt Arena in the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth.

Over the weekend, junior Landon Langenbau came through with a third-place finish with his Maine Anjou heifer.

Junior Zachary Herring earned a fourth place award in the Beefmaster division.

Sophomore Levi Williams wound up in sixth-place in his division with his Charolais heifer.

Freshman Reese Pinkerton wound up in seventh-place in a Polled Hereford category.

Junior Kaydee Williams' showing in the Charolais division landed her in tenth place.

With his Grey Brahman calf, senior Kennith McFadden placed 16th in his grouping.

The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo continues through Feb. 5.
