Progress, development, improvement, and growth are beginning to show for the Arp Lady Tigers Volleyball team.

The Varsity Lady Tigers wrapped up the first day of the Union Grove Tournament on a high note by beating district rival Jefferson in two straight sets 2-0, which also marked their first victory of the young season.

Tournament play matches are best of three sets, unlike regular season and postseason matches which are best of five.

Overall, Arp went 1-2 Thursday.

The Lady Tigers fell 2-0 to Harmony, a powerhouse team that has had deep runs in the playoffs the last several years and finished last season ranked No. 5 in the state in Class 3A.

The Arp ladies then took Queen City to three sets, before succumbing 2-1.

Coach Billy Holcomb's Lady Tigers play in the consolation bracket Saturday back at Union Grove High School.  They will face Ore City in round one at 8:00 a.m.

The Lady Tiger Junior Varsity team traveled to Union Grove Friday for their tournament and had a tremendous day.

They swept all three of their matches, beating Union Grove 2-0, Ore City 2-0, and Quitman 2-0.

Be sure to make the drive up North of Gladewater to get out and support the Arp ladies.
