Arp HS band seniors 2024 sweepstakes

It's a sweep alright.

A sweep of one ratings across the board for the Arp Tiger Pride Band for the fourth straight year.

Competing in the UIL 3A concert and sight reading contest Tuesday at Troup High School, our Tiger musicians wowed the judges.

They received first division superior ratings from all the judges in both disciplines.

Combining their efforts Tuesday with those at the Region 21 UIL marching contest in mid-October, where they also earned straight ones, allow them to continue to call themselves a sweepstakes band.

Judge's Comments regarding Tone Quality, Technique and Musicianship:

Good characteristic sounds from all sections in this band and a nice healty ensemble sound. Such nice execution of the different articulatin required for these peices. You do such a fine job listening and playing together. A very musical performance and a joy to hear! BRAVO!!! I like the energy you play with! I like the musical things you've added to your performance that are not written in the music. Really nice use of dynamics in this peice to showcase your musicality. This was a joy to hear! You should be very proud to be a part of such a fine organization! Thank you directors for their fine teaching. The ensemble has mature, sonorous and characteristic sounds. Pitches are constantly centered and focused. There is consistant balance and blend between sections. Dynamic contrast is obvious and effective. Rhythms are uniformly performed by the ensemble with clarity and consistent style. Very nice techniques being taught here. The band employs proper musical style and is sensitive to phrasing and musical lines. Dynamic variation and musical nuance is evidently taught and understood since students convey an artistic, energetic, and emotional understanding of the music with appropriate tempos. Good looking, large group. Band must be popular in Arp! Nice work on the march. Very tastefully prepared and performed. Thank you so much for your performance today! I really enjoyed your program, it was exciting and full of energy. Be sure to thank your director for picking a great program today. Beautiful sounds from everyone today! Thank you playing with control and balance! Great technique on display today! Thank you for the musical performance today! I enjoyed it! Congratulations to all! WOW! What a big group! Fantastic! Great individual and sections sounds throughout the band. I appreciate your intensity. Good attention to the ariticulation details and changes. Great phrasing and use of dynamics.
