Arp HS twirl

What a performance by the Arp High School Majorettes Wednesday.

All nine twirlers that performed at the UIL Class 3A regional solo and ensemble competition in Bullard, and their respective quintets earned one ratings thus qualifying to state next May.

One quintet was made up of juniors Sarah Maynard, Alyssa Talamantes, Rebekah Hardy, and freshmen Paige Mills, and Rissa Petty.

The other quintet  included senior and head twirler Ryan Sherwood, junior Madison Williams, sophomores Lilyana Hooper, Shae Leatch, and freshman Kelcie Cole.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Arp majorettes qualify to state since the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 competition.

Longtime Arp Junior High English/reading teacher and Arp ISD alum Tiffany Ellis is Arp High School's twirl sponsor.  The group is also guided by Arp ISD band director Chris Cook.

The UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest is scheduled for May 25, and May 27, 2024 in the Austin area.
