Arp ISD chief financial officer Abby Fair

"Everything is figure-out-able," says the newest member of the district's administration team Abby Fair, CPA.

"No matter what the problem is, there is always a solution," she adds.  "It just may take more time, and effort than you originally thought," Fair then explains.

She's excited, and ready to tackle the responsibilities that come with maintaining our financial books in order as Arp ISD's new business manager and chief financial officer.

Having grown up in another small East Texas town, Fair also looks forward to joining our close knit Arp, America community.  "I have already seen how close everyone is and I am hopeful that I can become a part of it."

A 2015 Hawkins High School grad, Fair says that she "find(s) the intricacies of school business fascinating, and look(s) forward to learning more in order to better serve the district and its students."

With her father as chief financial officer at Hawkins ISD, and the rest of her family working as educators, Fair has always had an interest in school business.

She states that, "Schools, just like (any other company), require money and funds to operate effectively."

"There are many facets to school finance including federal grants and taxes," said Fair as she described the importance of the business office.

"In order to receive and maintain these funds appropriately for the betterment of the district, books must be (duly) maintained for public awareness."

"These monies have to be (judiciously) budgeted and expended to meet the needs of the students," she added.

Fair earned her bachelor degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting  in 2019 from Harding University in Arkansas.

"From a young age, I loved math, and I like to problem-solve.  So the accounting/finance world seemed like a good fit," disclosed Fair.

She comes to Arp ISD after serving as senior assurance associate at Prothro Wilhelmi & Company, PLLC in Tyler the last four years.

While this is her first job in school finance, Fair brings in plenty of experience auditing school districts.

She hopes to help Arp ISD continue to thrive.
