Arp H.S. UIL academic district standouts

Continuing its tradition of dominance, the Arp High School accounting team brought home gold Thursday from the UIL District 16-3A academic contest at Tatum High School.

Top four finishers at state the last two years, the Tiger accountants march on to regionals after nearly sweeping the top five individual places at district.

Senior Kyleigh Pawlik garnered first place repeating as champion, followed by junior Fisher Arrington in second, senior Kayleigh Shuttlesworth was fourth, and junior Joslyn Swinney fifth.  Junior Sarah Mauldin is the team's alternate.  The group's new coach this school year is Mrs. Rhonda Pawlik, who is Arp High School's UIL academic coordinator as well.

Arp, America's success didn't stop there.

Junior Michael Clepper won an individual first place gold medal in social studies punching his ticket to regionals.  He's coached by Mr. George Greer.

Junior Maddie Poole was third in spelling, also earning an opportunity to compete at regionals.  Her coach is English department head Mrs. Kitty Marshall.

Arp's literary criticism team made up of seniors Jocelyn Rodriguez, Landry Brady, and Guadalupe Chavez turned in a second place performance with Rodriguez nabbing a sixth place individual finish.  They were guided by English teacher Mrs. Nancy Spain.

The regional competition is set for Saturday April 22 at Tyler Junior College.
