The Do's of Video Production.

While Filming Do:

SCREEN TEST YOUR STUDENTS.It amazes me still, how different people appear on tape.   Some people brighten up the screen, others become very dull and lifeless.   Teach students to EXPRESS with their EYES,MOVE THEIR LIPS when speaking,AND FINISH the ENDING CONSONANTS of each spoken word.
USE A TRIPOD WHEN EVERY POSSIBLE
FRAME THE SUBJECT (WITHOUT CEILING,FLOOR,& A LOT OF "DEAD" SPACE)
FRAME THE ACTION (GOAL POSTS &KICKERS) IN ONE SPOT
USE CLOSE-UP OF FACE,FACE,FACE & SHOULDERS, OR ACTION (I.E. hands, ball going in goal, hand off of a football)when every possible
USE DIRECT LIGHTING OR BACK GROUND FEATURE FOR YOUR CAMERA
MAKE THE SUBJECT OF YOUR FILM PEOPLE WHEN POSSIBLE INSTEAD OF THINGS(a beautiful scene is nice, but unsually a friendly face in the scene is better)
KEEP THE MOVEMENT OF THE CAMERA AT AN MINIMUM.(We like to sean all about your eyes, but you cannot do this with the camera.  The camera cannot see an entire room.  It must have focal point.  Choose a focal point carefully.  Make sure it will remain the point of interast for at least several minutes--if possible.
USE A MICROPHONE WHEN EVER POSSIBLE. Your Mic picks up a broad range on sound. To hear a speaker you should use a selectivly placed Mic.
Sit above all obstacles.
Look around to find good places to film from.
Pre-Checkes on all of your Equipment.
