Q: What is
editing, anyway?
A: Electronically compiling a montage that tells a story or imparts information with a medium (video tape, CD, DVD, digital avi or mpg file.) In other words, it's clipping out the boring or irrelevant parts of a video, and developing the content utilizing slides, titles, action clips, and music to make the project more appropriate for the intended audience.
Q: Why do we edit? A: The
rule of thumb is to collect about four times as much video as you will actually
use in the final product. Editing allows the video technology team to
highlight and create a meaningful tool for communication. We strives to
make videos
that are educational and interesting to watch, and to better inform the public of
significant events.
Q: What information
should you highlight? A: Develop a storyboard that answers the questions: who, what, when, where, why. Create a vision of what is. Utilize the charter for TigerVision Community Access Channel.
