REGULAR BOARD MEETING

The Board
of Trustees for Arp Independent
School District met in Regular
Session on January 11, 2010
in the Arp High School Library at 7:00 p.m.
with the following members present:

CAL TO ORDER: Dennis
Ford, Board President called the meeting to
order at 7:00 p.m.
II.
INVOCATION: Given by Eltara Tyiska.
III.
FIRST
ORDER OF BUSINESS: Roll Call:
Certification that “the provisions of The
Open Meetings Act, Section 551.001 et.seq. of the Texas
Government Code have been complied with in connection with public notice of
this meeting and a quorum is present.”
IV.
OPEN
FORUM: Arp elementary students were proud to show the Board
Members their First Place
trophy and medals awarded at U.I.L. competition. They also expressed their
thanks to the Board for allowing them to
compete. The students sang their “scientific song” and Jack Bernhart
demonstrated his amazing hover car that he built. The Board
Members were very proud of these students and thoroughly enjoyed their
presentation.
Mrs. Chesshir
presented books donated and dedicated to the Board
Members as requested by Mr. Lowery. She also expressed her appreciation to the Board
Members and Mr. Lowery for their support. A video by Tiger Vision News under
the direction of Dr. Rousseau articulated their appreciation to our School Board
for all they do.
Rev. David
Banks, Arp First
United Methodist
Church addressed the Board
and Mr. Lowery requesting the football stadium for the annual “Son Rise” Easter
Service for the community.

ACTION
ITEMS:
5.1
Approve minutes from the Regular Board
Meeting of December 11, 2009. Dr.
Stroupe made the motion to approve the minutes as presented. Patty Campbell seconded the motion. Motion
carried 6-0.
5.2
Consider approving expenditures for December 2009. Eltara Tyiska made the motion to approve the
expenditures as presented. Heath
Grammier seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.
5.3
Consider approving financial reports of cash
investments and tax collections. Dr.
Stroupe made the motion to approve the financial reports as presented. Patty Campbell seconded the motion. Motion
carried 6-0.
5.4
Consider approving budget amendment(s). None, therefore no action.
5.5
Consider approving transfer student. Heath Grammier made the motion to approve the
elementary transfer student presented.
Patty Campbell seconded the motion.
Motion carried 6-0.
VI.
INFORMATION
ITEMS:
6.1
School Board
Appreciation Month. Mr. Lowery
served a steak dinner to the Board of Trustees
and their spouses in appreciation for their dedication and time they devote to
the students of Arp Schools.
6.2
Dairy Max Breakfast Grant. Phyllis Miner, Food Service Director received
a grant to provide free breakfast to all high school and junior high students
for the remainder of the 2009-2010 school year.
VII.
BOARD
COMMENTS: The Board
Members enjoyed the meal and gifts provided and thanked all who participated.
VIII.
CLOSED
SESSION: Texas Government Code 551.074 The Board of
Trustees entered into closed session at 7:26
p.m. and reconvened to open session at 8:40 p.m.
8.1
Consider Superintendent’s Contract. No action.
IX.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, Mr. Ford
called for a motion to adjourn. Patty Campbell made the motion. Heath Grammier
seconded. Meeting adjourned at 8:43 p.m.
