ARP INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT 

JUNE 2, 2009       6:00 p.m.

ARP HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY

 

The Board of Trustees for Arp Independent School District met in Special Session on June 2, 2009 in the Arp High School Library at 6:00 pm. with the following members present:                  

Dennis Ford

President

Montza Williams

Vice President

Patty Campbell

Secretary

Eltara Tyiska

Trustee

Heath Grammier

Trustee

 

Also in attendance: Toney Lowery-Superintendent of Schools, Fred Zachary-High School Principal, and Yolanda Bruney-Superintendent’s Secretary. Visitor: Mrs. Eula Starling

 

I.                   CALL TO ORDER:  Dennis Ford, Board President called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

 

II.                INVOCATION:  Given by Eltara Tyiska.

 

III.             FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS:  Roll Call:  Certification that “the provisions of The Open Meetings Act, Section 551.001 et.seq. of the Texas Government Code have been complied with in connection with public notice of this meeting and a quorum is present.”

 

IV.              OPEN FORUM:  None.

 

V.                 ACTION ITEMS:  None.

 

VI.              INFORMATION ITEMS:  None.

 

VII.           EXECUTIVE SESSION: Texas Government Code 551.074. The Board of Trustees entered into executive session at 6:02 p.m. and reconvened at 6:30 p.m.   

8.1      Mrs. Starling addressed the Board on High School Graduation Requirements.  No Action.

8.2      Personnel: Resignations:  Montza Williams made the motion to accept the resignation from Justin Valanty, High School teacher. Patty Campbell seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0.

8.3      Montza Williams made the motion to appoint Ernie Maddox to fill the Place 2 vacancy on the Board for one year till the next School Board Election. Heath Grammier seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0.

 

VIII.        ADJOURNMENT:  There being no further business, meeting adjourned at 6:32 p.m.
