2010 Updates & Maintenance Issues

  • You are NOT allowed to unhook and move computers for any reason! If allowing you to move computers REALLY worked for the district...we would not hesitate for you to help us. But, unfortunately, this is a disaster when you move or relocate...and we end up having to figure out what the problems are and it takes us twice as long.
  • Wireless access: Press box, field, Ag building, Old Gym, Band Hall, and additional wireless through out each campus.
  • Gizmos - $2100 for entire district - Math & Science simulations
  • Swiffer Man - Keep America Clean! http://podcast.arpisd.org/users/joy/weblog/c9188/Swiffer_Man.html  If requesting technology and there is dust and debris, we will walk out without giving you the technology.
  • Saving Your Stuff - Network Folders - Organization
  • Bypassing Filter - Opens your computer up to viruses, spyware, and malware - Popup stopper on and be careful. If you infect your machine, you are responsible. If abuse occurs in your classroom, you are responsible.
  • Maintenance: RUN updates - watch your taskbar!
  • Surge Protectors are meant for computers ONLY. If you add a pencil sharpener, heater, or other device to the surge protector, your DEFEAT the purpose of the protector!
  • Email Attachments - Cleaning email out and saving attachments IMMEDIATELY to the Network. Deleting, Deleting Delete Folder, Deleting Sent, Deleting Delete Folder. DO NOT SEND attachments within the district SEND the ROUTE ADDRESS \\maroon\teachers\lkajdflkja;ldfjlakjf;lkjafl;dskj
  • Access Facebook from you PHONE OR from Home...not from your Computer   Today's techn news had a BIG warning about FACEBook viruses. AND all the emails from FACEBOOK Notifications are jamming up the email server....send those to your private email!!!!
  • Remember: No disks, flash drives, thumb drives, or external drives allowed in the district and no laptops from home IF you need to move documents back and forth, do it the 21st century way - through Google Docs OR Dropbox.
