FAIRNESS Fairness implies adherence to a standard of rightness without reference to ones own feelings or inclinations. This is the freedom from prejudice or impartiality. Fairness is concerned with actions, and processes, that are morally right, honorable and equitable. People with good character do not take unfair advantage of other people's mistakes or ignorance. Fair decisions are made in an appropriate manner based on appropriate criteria. This criteria is well established and not hidden, which allows all people to be treated equitably based upon their merits and abilities to comply to the criteria. When injustice has been noted, it is promptly and voluntarily corrected, either personally or institutionally. Fairness establishes standards for decisions that affect others.
