Approved Attendance Committee

A student may not be given credit for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90% of the days the class is offered.  (Students must be in attendance 90% of the time for each class period per day.)

An attendance committee will be formed and approved by the board of trustees.  Classroom teachers shall comprise a majority of the membership of the committee.  The committee may give credit to a student because of extenuating circumstances.

Warning letters for students who fail to attend school are immediately required (5-day and 7-day warning letters.)  The attendance office shall file a complaint against the parent in the county court in the county in which the parent resides or in which the school is located.

A school district shall notify a student's parent in writing if, in a six month period, the student has been absent without an excuse (unexcused) five times for any part of the day.
