Arp ISD maintains high standards of
ethical and acceptable use of all
technology for educational purposes.

In the 5th or 6th Six Weeks, many teachers are interested in doing projects where students might need to use a structured email assignment or use the Internet for research or need to store information in network folders. This is a very good time of year to do your project-based curriculum piece. Here are some easy steps to make your network use go more smoothly in you classroom.

(1) Teach your students the Acceptable Use Policies (AUP)...Elementary campus, use the TA TEKS Scope & Sequence Workbook with your students for the Technology Applications TEKS at their level.

(2) Test your students' understanding of the AUP principles so that you KNOW they understand what their responsibilities are on the network. This is NOT wasting your time....each curriculum area is required to include the Technology TEKS in the curriculum.  Using the 5th & 6th Six Weeks are ideal to do this....when TAAS & EOCs are over.

3) Have your students & parents & yourself sign the AUP Internet Driver's License and give it to Laura or myself. We will then place the student on the network.

Elementary classrooms may apply for a CLASSROOM account where all the students have access (limited) with the same password....this makes it easier on the entire class.

(4) Use collaborative Internet tools to make student projects, relevant, dynamic, and innovative.

(5) Monitor! Monitor! Monitor! students as they use these resources.

Surfing the NET
is a collaborative "thing"!
