Dear
Principals,
We had
some very productive work done in the last two days. Most of the teachers worked very hard to
bring up their teaching documents (lesson plans & calendars) to state
standards. (Except for 4 teachers
who decided to browse the Thrifty Nickel instead of working with their
groups) I would like to suggest a
TO DO list as a result of this Inservice:
- Make
sure that you SEE curriculum calendars from all your teachers for the first 3
six weeks. I will bet that the 4
teachers I mentioned earlier DO NOT have theirs up to speed.
- Make
sure that you check lesson plans online….we have some folks who have the SAME
lesson plan from September through December….because they think you can’t tell
the difference.
- Make
sure that ALL your teachers are benchmarking their students at the six weeks.
This is district policy.
Site
base Issues for Improvement Plans that MUST be addressed in January….so that I
can get the District Committee up to speed BEFORE
February
- Have
committee members type up their needs assessments and submit them to the
Campus Committee. We actually did
this during inservice time…so that you would be a jump
ahead.
- Have
Campus Committees make sure they complete the following tasks – as a result of
our Audit from the State
- Complete
a Comprehensive Needs Assessment
- Identify
Strategies for solving Needs
- Identify
Supplemental Financial Resources (by Dollar amount for Title and
Compensatory
- Identify
supplemental staff FTE’s by exact % -- but this MUST have documentation as
to which students are being served and how often.
- Timelines
for monitoring strategies
- Formative
and Summative Evaluation Criteria – I went over this in the Inservice. Basically, you need to tell how
often you will monitor the strategies, by what method (we have a District
Assessment Policy that needs to be followed. You can read it at: http://www.arp.sprnet.org/curric/Instr_Assess/testing.htm
), and what you will do if a child falls below the expectation – what OTHER
strategies will be used.
- Staff
Development Recommendations & Waiver Days Recommendation (how many &
for WHAT?)
- Make
sure that ALL special programs are addressed in plan including: ESL, GT, AT-RISK, Early Graduation,
Acceleration, Summer School, Attendance & Attendance Committee,
Recommended High School Program, College Entrance Testing, CATE, Special Ed,
Technology Applications (TA TEKS), Lesson Plan & Calendar
Development (Curriculum Alignment), and TAKS
preparation.
I WILL
ASSIST you in anyway that you need. Thanks
for all you do!
