Vision 2020 Pre-Grant Survey

Arp ISD and Big Sandy ISD are currently partnering to submit a Vision 2020 Technology Immersion Grant. This grant covers a period of two years and requires that $125,000.00 be allocated for Professional Development to improve the ability of teachers, administrators, parents, students, and staff members to successfully implement technology integration into a global environment. A full immersion project will allow students and teachers at certain grade levels to carry wireless laptops and access online instructional materials 24/7. Parents will be asked to learn how to support technology tools in the home.

ALREADY AVAILABLE: Computer Cop software to allow parents to monitor and block Internet access to any place they deem necessary. Software is available for check out from all campus libraries.

IF THE GRANT IS FUNDED: Parents will be given the opportunity to attend workshops or view DVDs from home. Internet safety issues and grant initiatives will be discussed. Laptops will be given to students at Big Sandy in grades 8, 9, and 10 and at Arp ISD in grades 8 and 9. Students will have access to these laptops 24/7. The purpose of supplying this and other technology tools is to allow students to develop real-world skills,  to improve their engagement in teaching and learning, and to improve their academic achievement. It is important that we allow parents to have input into this initiative. Please feel free to comment on the following:
