Connection 2 Pre-Grant Teacher Survey

Arp ISD and Frankston ISD are currently partnering to submit a competitive Technology Immersion Grant. This grant covers a period of two years and requires that ~$100,000.00 be allocated for Professional Development to improve the ability of teachers, administrators, and staff members to successfully implement technology integration into the classroom. A full immersion project will allow students and teachers at certain grade levels to carry wireless devices and to access online instructional materials 24/7. Teachers will be asked to learn how to:

build interactivity into the classrooms
record (audio & video) and upload lessons to iTunes U and Project Share
build online lessons in Project Share
utilize new software packages and high-tech tools for simulation and project-based curriculum
differentiate instruction based on online assessment tools
reach proficient levels in technology skills using a cohort of peers from both districts in face-to-face training and online instruction.

The emphasis of the grant is to improve achievement in the 4 core areas along with technology skills. The major area of need in both school districts has been identified as science and math improvement. The grant will emphasize real-world skills through project-based curriculum assisting teachers to integrate thematic units across the curriculum.

Professional development we are considering over the two years of the grant include:

Blogger Tool Kits
Deep Knowledge assisted through Project-base learning including rubric building and project management
Project Share instruction for creating online units
Atomic Learning- 1 minute training videos for learning skills on all types of technology tools (you may preview! This will allow all stakeholders to gain technology skills 24/7.
InfoSource Learning: Allows teachers to gain certified levels of online technology training using TEKS and ISTE standards.
Texas Virtual School Network Online Instructor Training (TXVSN) from TAMU University. Teachers who are willing to take the TAMU online training to become a certified online instructor for the state of Texas will be offered. The grant will pay for this training and TAMU will arrange the courses so that both districts work as a group in the courses.

ELA teachers updating research, writing, questioning, reading skills using Web 2.0 Tools.
Whole-part-whole instruction for improving reading and writing across the curriculum.
Quickstarts on new technology software packages for Podcasting and online lesson creation.
Online digital device for 1 to 1 implementation classroom management skills.
Policy and procedures for new initiatives
Administrators' training in evaluating "Levels of Technology Integration" (LoTi) with PDAS
