Vision 2020 Pre-Grant Survey

Arp ISD and Big Sandy ISD are currently partnering to submit a Vision 2020 Technology Immersion Grant. This grant covers a period of two years and requires that $125,000.00 be allocated for Professional Development to improve the ability of teachers, administrators, and staff members to successfully implement technology integration into the classroom. A full immersion project will allow students and teachers at certain grade levels to carry wireless laptops and access online instructional materials 24/7. Teachers will be asked to learn how to use technology tools to learn how to:

build interactivity into the classrooms

bullet

record (audio & video) and upload lessons to a podcast server

bullet

build online lessons in either Moodle or ClassServer

bullet

utilize new software packages and high-tech tools (probes, GPS, etc) for simulation and project-based curriculum

bullet

differentiate instruction based on online assessment tools

bullet

reach proficient levels in technology skills using a cohort of peers from both districts in face-to-face training and online instruction.

The emphasis of the grant is to improve achievement in the 4 core areas along with technology skills. The major area of need in both school districts has been identified as reading improvement. The grant will emphasize real-world skills through project-based curriculum assisting teachers to integrate thematic units across the curriculum.

Atomic Learning- 1 minute training videos for learning skills on all types of technology tools (you may preview! username/Login:     arpisd   This will allow teachers and students to gain technology skills 24/7.

InfoSource Learning: Allows teachers to gain certified levels of online technology training using TEKS and ISTE standards.

Texas Virtual School Network Online Instructor Training (TXVSN) from TAMU University. Teachers who are willing to take the TAMU online training to become a certified online instructor for the state of Texas will be offered the Arp and Big Sandy ISD Cohort training sessions. The grant will pay for this training and TAMU will arrange the courses so that we work as a group in the courses.
